Bad Toilet habit
When I go to the public toilets and witness people’s awful habits I not only get alarmed but I wonder what can be done to change their lifestyle. Some people urinate all over the toilet seats and floor, defecate and leave the stains of their mess everywhere and do not flush the toilet after use. The biggest crime is when people walk away without washing their hands after using the toilet.
We are more at risk of spreading E.coli bacteria through poor toilet hygiene than undercooked meat or other food, according to new research. Scientists have found that most superbug infections associated with E.coli are caused by harmful strains found in human faeces rather than in chicken or meat.
Did you know that you spread these lethal bugs through poor toilet hygiene, not undercooked chicken or food.
The researchers, including a group from the University of East Anglia, examined an E.coli strain that produces an enzyme that makes its resistant to antibiotics. The enzyme is known as the Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL).
The study’s main author Professor David Livermore, from the University of East Anglia’s Norwich Medical School, said: “The great majority of strains of ESBL-E.coli causing human infections aren’t coming from eating chicken, or anything else in the food chain.
“Rather – and unpalatably – the likeliest route of transmission for ESBL-E.coli is directly from human to human, with faecal particles from one person reaching the mouth of another.”
There are some basic lifestyle and habit changes can reduce the risk and prevent it spreading including:
- While inside the toilet please follow some common sense. Urinate inside the toilet bowl and not on the seats or the floor. If you sprinkle urine on the toilet seat or the floor while urinating please think about the person after you. Wipe it clean. Would you like to sit on someone else’s urine or even your own urine? Why do you leave your urine on the toilet seat or the floor? After defecating please clean the toilet bowl if it has been stained. It’s most sickening to enter the toilet and find the toilet bowl smeared and stained by people’s faeces. Use the toilet brush to clean up and use the flush to rinse and wash the toilet’s inside. Those who leave toilets dirty their behaviour is most revolting and makes them very uncivilised.
- After finishing your business think about your cleaning habits. Clean with tissues and wash your private parts with clean and running water after urinating or defecating. I do not understand how people could think that their private parts are clean after simply wiping with toilet tissues. It is not clean at all. Take the Islamic teaching and clean yourself with tissues and water thoroughly. Remember you cannot even pray your five daily prayers unless you are clean from physical impurities. And when you use water to clean yourself please do not flood the toilet floor. This is one of the most disgusting habits we often witness in the mosques.
- Now that you have cleaned yourself and left the toilet very clean please wash your hands thoroughly after being to the toilet. If you do not wash your hands with clean and running water the consequences are dire. Your own faecal matters are in your hands and you would go out and meet people, greet them with your urine or faeces coasted hands! You are spreading filth and risking people to diseases. You would touch food that will end up in your mouth and cause you great harm. If you do not wash your hands you are being selfish, unclean and downright disgusting.
As human beings, not animals, we have a distinct ability to clean ourselves properly and thoroughly. There is no excuse for bad toilet hygiene.
